During the break between Christmas and New Year I managed to grab a spare day and headed over to Snowdonia for a walk in the Carneddau. This was supposed to be the middle of winter yet it was more like a spring day as the sun was shinning bright the crisp clear sky and no a sign of any snow, non whatsoever.
My route took me over four 3,000ft summits, Pen yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd, Yr Elen and Carnedd Llewellyn before taking the direct route back to the car via the Ogwen Valley mountain rescue station.
When I reached to top of Pen yr Ole Wen I turned around and it was one of those wow moments, the view across to Tryfan and beyond was spectacular. The valley mist making the mountain tops look like a stormy sea scene. I set up the tripod and filters to reduce the sun glare and managed to capture the title image, one which I’m very pleased with.
